SERIES #2
/Apparently I’m not much better at this than I was before, I suppose I only have a little bandwidth for communication with no one and my struggle to maintain any presence at all on IG hogs that up. Anyway, SERIES #2 is officially out!!!!
Let’s see…what can I say about this recording. I was playing the material on here in late June/early July, I specifically remember playing both Electro Sonic Workhop and Dirty Circuit Life at that point in the summer with this set. Every so often I get in these moods where I just don’t want to play in common time. Really, I’m using odd meters as a crutch - a quick and easy way to ensure that what I’m doing sounds quirky or different. Fortunately I tend to overdo this pretty quickly and move onto something else, and in the meantime I can get some really fun results. Thus, SERIES #2 - where both compositioons are in 5/4.
These are both reworks of harmonic structures I used in older compositions, back in my rock days. Airshow never really got past the demo stage, but the original version of Stealth appears on the Splendor Bin album of the same name. I think I just did one song in 5s and then was just like fuck it I’ll do the other ones in 5s too and get it all out.
Things I’m happy about on Airshow:
The blending of Lifeforms and Loquelic Iteritas Percido to make a new sound, first time I’ve done that specific thing
Use of the Ensemble Oscillator’s Chebyshev Warp setting on the “ghost bass”
The way the outro turned out
Things I’m happy about on Stealth (Part 2):
The extremely vibed out lead melody during the firt part
The entire middle section…the high pitched melodic dings…the crunchy chords…that bass break with the clave-ish line on top….shit’s nice!
Ok - I’m off to play open.source and then get into some new shit for fall - see you out there!
